After reading the funny script, I easily know something about the Trojan war. It describes things happened in few weeks before the end of the war, by using a humorous way with a little bit childish. I still remember one thing in the script that Hector told his enemy before he kill the enemy, this shows his confidence and domination. He said:"Hello, my name is HECTOR. You kill my friends.Prepare to die." I think this also shows what all the Greek think about, they think they are powerful and they can control the enemy’s death.
ReplyDeleteReading this funny play was very entertaining and it was a good comical relief. Most of the scenes were mixed from the olden day myths and mixed in with some modern aspects of today. The most memorible part to me was the talk about gossip in the play about hellen and troy through facebook.
ReplyDeleteİ really enjoyed reading the play. It was really funny. It helped me to remember the basic facts about the story.I would like to play Tricia , MC or Aphrodite. I lıke Tricia better because the way she talk is easy to act because she is a teenager too. Playing her will be fun.She isn't like a main character but there is no small roles for actors , there is small actors.
ReplyDeleteI consider that the humorous dialogues made me more attracted me to the story.Though some of them are a bit ridiculous, but undoubtedly, they showed the character of the role directly. Illiad Illiad Illiad fetched the vital parts of the story, use the simple and kind of childish words to make me understand and remember the main point of the play, of course the Trojan War.
ReplyDeleteI'm interested in the role of Hera.
From my point of view, the use of the humor certainly made the reading much more enjoyable. When I read the book , the extremely complex names of the god and their complicated relationship confused me a lot, gradually, I felt bored about these abstract legends. Nevertheless, when I read Illiad Illiad Illiad, I was fascinated about the plot deeply. For instance, this play let Paris made judgements amoung three goddesses in a different way--- the narrator becomes MC and Paris becomes a person who have been selected to answer the age old question: which goddess is the most beautiful?
ReplyDeleteBy reading this account of the Trojan War, I learned the basic facts about war indeed. Nonetheless, I could not comprehand the basic and true feeling of each person because they all perform in a hunmorous way.
I am interested in these three parts. 1.Hector said to Achilles" I said hello. My name is Hector. You killed my friends. Prepare to die." 2.The narrator becomes MC and 3 goddess deliver some speech.
3.During the war, the Trojans and Greeks come out in dance formation.
I thought this adaptation of Homer’s classic, The Illiad, was quite entertaining. It reminded me of a play I did in 8th grade, called Romeo and Harriet which, naturally, was a spoof of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. In my experience, it seems to be that farces of historical manuscripts are very successful. Due in part greatly to my past experience, I was able to pick out and understand the key facts among the silliness. My knowledge of the Illiad and the Trojan War from European History also contributed to my ability to distinguish fact from fiction.
ReplyDeleteI would really enjoy acting out this play, and to be completely honest, it doesn’t really matter to me what part I get, because I liked all of them. However, I would like to play someone of masculine identity because I just never seem to have done well with feminine roles (and I’ve been in a few plays where I’ve played feminine characters).
**9/21/2010 Update**
Looking back on today's class, I would actually really, really like to play Narrator 1. I think the part is very funny, and I honestly think it fits my persona very well.
In my option,I think the use of humor really made the reading more enjoyable, but some part of the stories still it is childish.By the way, this kind of reading can help the students easy to understand the major of Trojan war. Also I have found the interest to play as a actor in the reading.Probably, I would like to act the hector and the Achilles parts. At the end I think the story it help me to know the basic facts easily and let me learn the story about the Trojan war.
ReplyDeleteThis play is really entertaining, the use of humor made reading much more enjoyable. I do not think it is childish but really funny, Specially, the way they acted about the Trojan War, the humor lines attracted me into the story and it also clearly taught us the basic information about the Trojan War. So, the humor lines with knowledge, easily make us understand how the Trojan War happened and ended. I love this kind of expression.
ReplyDeleteThe acting will be fun in class. I'd like to do a lot of characters, but I am afraid about acting MC and narrator2 , just because there are too many lines and a little bit too emotional. So, basically, I'll enjoy the acting and not picky about which character I will be.
