Iliad, Iliad, Iliad!
D PERIOD - What were your thoughts on Iliad, Iliad, Iliad!? Did you find the that use of humor made the reading more enjoyable or did you find it childish? Although it is a silly account of the Trojan War, did you find that you learned the basic facts, or was the way it was written detract from your understanding. We will be acting parts of this, (if not the whole play) out in class. Are there any particular parts you would like to play? You may list up to three. Narrator 2, Odysseus, and the MC will be broken into separate parts.

this script is very interesting. it talks about the battle of troy and the better more advanced machinery and technology that the greeks had over the trojans. the greeks used modern machinery but still had way better weapons than the trojans. it was also interesting that they put all of this script in the eyes of kindve childish and made it humerous!
ReplyDelete- Jesus Colon period D.
The play is very funny im looking forward to do this in class. This is the first play i read with two narrators. The first narrator seems to be more serious other than narrator 2 who loves to joke around. They talk about the weapons the greeks fought with and the trojans and the greeks had the advantage. The tell the story in a very funny way in more of a 20th century perspective.

ReplyDeleteIn Iliad,Iliad,Iliad, there are two different views about the story. One thinks it rocks which based on its narrative complexity and deeper meanings and application to our daily lives. The other one thinks that it is kind of long and boring. Personally, I like Iliad a lot. Thinking Homer was a great writer, I adore his creativity. Mythology is the explanation of natural regularity. Although the beginning of the story is kind of silly, but we have to say Trojan War’s cause was led by this is reasonable.
In this play, the people’s conversation is very funny. My favorite one is said by Achilles:”Dosen’t hurt me.I can’t even feel that.Oh no don’t hurt me Hector! Please don’t stab me in the head! Oh look, oh-look, I just hi my head with a rock and it didn’t hurt-” It is so ....I even can't find a word to describe. It is attractive I can read all over. I like it. It makes the story very clearly and easy to read.
I prefer the conversation between Achilles and Hector, the conversation between Helen
For me the Illiad Illiad Illiad was really good. Through this story Illiad Illiad Illiad, I found the fact that using of humor to tell such a mythology story is much more enjoyable for reading, though part of the sentences and dialogs were sort of childish. It is kind of a silly account of the Trojan War, but I do found that I learned the basic facts much easier and it did not detract from my understanding. If I could have a choice, I prefer to learn the mythology story in this way if the time really limited. But if time permitted, I still would like to quiet down and read the real mythology, since the real mythologies do contain much more details and fine describing scenes and plots, which left me a long term deep impression of the splendid and magical story, instead of learning so fast in a funny way but forget it before long. I'd like to act as the Narrator 2 or MC and I will join in the play with emotion for sure.
ReplyDeleteJames Quan,
ReplyDeleteIn fact, I think that this way to perform is interesting, and the weapons is kind of funny, it's like a sci-fi for the trojans and greeks, how imaginary they are!!! This is the kind of comedy(show) I always want to perform. The Illiad,Illiad,Illiad!!!is easy for us to learn the basic facts of trojan war. The character I want to play is Narrator 2, Trojan and Achilles.
I really like this story because it tells Troy wars in afunny way. It helps me to understand and remember mythology book. I want to play Helen because she is the wife of king and she cause of the war(: Other rhan i can play Aphrodite whose godess of love. Also i can play Hera whose mother of goddesses and Zeus angry wife.
ReplyDeleteThis greek mythology play exposures a great sense of humor which has the aspects of a modern and funny version. The way the characters act is foolish and may also seem ridiculous. They way the comedy introduces the play captures my attention and makes me enjoy the myth. I would like to play aphrodite, who traps my attention with her acts. I also like Helen, the cause of war, eventhough in this play she seems dorky due to the humor her character represents.
ReplyDeletemax hsu: it was funny hahahahaha, it perform by the humor way, this is the first time i feel mythology can be so much fun, some role in the story are just hilarious, much more fun to watching the performance than reading the book, it can help student to understand the basic events back in that period, but if u want to know all the detail about trojan war, i pefer to read to book, because it give u a lot of information.

ReplyDeleteThis play is very funny, but at the same time you are able to see through the jokes, and learn the true facts of the war. I think that the humor of the story moved, it along and made it more enjoyable to read.
