The poem “ I heard a Fly buzz- when I died” is about a atmosphere the poet images when she dies. She hears the fly buzz, that represents the silence in the room. The poet also writes the people comes and looks here and they cry. However, she has come to another world and there is a king leads her. I can tell that the poet doesn’t want her friends or family members cry for her, so she would rather let her body break up. The last paragraph shows us that she has died already and it returns to quiet and peaceful. The window closes, thus it is dark and she can’t see anything. In addition, the poet refers blue, which is the symbolic color of death. The tone of the poem is solemn and calm.

The bird of hope never stops singing, and in the gale, this singing is the best thing to heard, this is a way to describe that hope is a good thing. The storm indicated people who wants to destroy hope is going to have worse result. The sound in the "chillest land" and the "strangest sea" indicated that hope is a thing that can "fly", even to the chillest land and the strangest sea.

“Hope” is the thing with feathers:
ReplyDelete‘Hope’, one of the most wonderful things in this world, is described by this poem so precisely. The overall tone is grateful. For stretching the characters of hope, which is the theme, the author uses a lot “And” at the beginning of the lines. As a reader, this is where I feel the author is emphasizing the characters of hope. “And” is also a magical word which gives the reader a psychological suggestion while reading, implying that there so many good characteristics about hope that one line can never express the praise for it. The end rhymes are in pairs every other line, which gives a pleasant rhythm for whole. The environments that the author put the hope within contribute a lot to highlight the greatness and necessity of hope. The last line even pushes the extreme good character of hope to the vertex, by telling that hope never ask for anything, with doing so much for a human being. I do love this poem a lot.
I hear a Fly buzz -when I died.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Chinese poets all took their own life to death. Poets are too romantic to fancy colorful dreams. In this poem, Emily Dickinson posted her imagination about death, in a very pragmatic and detached tones. I like this style very much, because it shows some aloofness towards life and death. She used words like "room", "storm", and "firm" to catch the rhyme. Very clear, "fly" was a significant symbol of this poem. In my opinion, it was like the representative of messenger between real world and dead world. When the light was off, I left the world with no emotion and only the buzz of the fly.

I think in the poem "Hope is The Thing With Feathers", feathers are beautiful and delicate. Because you can loose your hopes from somebody or by yourself. It is easy to loose your hope. If you have hope you should trust yourself and follow your sense. I think the tone of the poem is disbelieving because she is talking about how feathers perches in the soul and sing the tune without the words. The rhytme of poem is a-b-a-b.
